The machine is equipped with a  turning tool head  on the right-hand side of the cross-rail and a milling tool head on the left-hand side of the cross-rail, being designed for intensive machining operations requiring high accuracy.

The main structural components of the machine are of rigid, box-type construction, with a logical arrangement of the reinforcing ribs.

The guideways have been designed as wide as possible in order to increase machine stability.

The right-hand tool head is used exclusively for turning operations and is capable of withstanding heavy-duty machining conditions, while the left-hand tool head performs only milling and boring operations

After completion of the turning operation, both milling and boring operations can be carried out without changing the position of the workpiece, therefore without requiring a new setup. This feature, together with the table feed capability during milling and indexing, considerably increases the machining flexibility of the machine.

The cross-rail moves along the guideways of the two columns.

Electro-hydraulic locking devices allow the cross-rail to be securely fixed at the required position on the columns. In turn, the two columns, which together with the upper connecting beam form the portal assembly, can be moved, thus increasing the machining diameter of the machine from  12.5 m to 16 m

Each column is mounted on a carriage which travels along a bed fixed to the foundation. Both carriages are provided with **hydrostatic support** and electro-hydraulic locking devices. This design provides simplicity, high rigidity and, at the same time, the possibility of extending the machining capacity.

The table provides  three speed ranges , continuously variable and manually controlled.

All machine operating functions can be controlled from the suspended control panels or from the other control panels fitted to the machine.

The table is driven through a  ring gear with helical teeth

The table guideways are lubricated by means of a  hydrostatic lubrication system . This ensures minimum guideway wear and high-precision table rotation by creating a continuous oil film. In addition, this system allows almost full utilization of the motor power, minimal thermal effects, superior surface finish quality and long service life.

The longitudinal slides of both tool heads are also provided with hydrostatic support.
